He was a member of the Australian team that won the 2021 T20 World Cup held in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) but didn’t play in any matches.

Before the 2022 T20 World Cup, held in Australia, he was playing golf when the club snapped and pushed into his hand, injuring him. Hence, he was not included in the World Cup squad.

He was a member of the winning Australian squad for the 2023 ICC Test Championship Final at The Oval in London.

On 29 November 2023, he scored his first international T20I century with 110 runs in 50 balls against India. He made the highest T20I second-wicket partnership of 130 runs for Australia with Steve Smith.

He played 8 matches in the 2023 ODI World Cup held in India and scored 159 runs at an average of 19.88 and a strike rate of 94.64. He also took 14 catches and 2 stumpings.

In the 2023 Ashes, he claimed a catch from Harry Brook, but the ball had already hit the ground. The English crowd started booing him, with chants of ‘Same old Aussies, always cheating.‘

On 6 September 2024, against Scotland, he became the first Australian wicketkeeper to score a T20I century and the fastest, with a hundred in just 43 deliveries.

He scored a century with 102 runs in 90 balls against Sri Lanka on his test debut in January 2025. It was the second-fastest test hundred on debut, after Shikhar Dhawan, who scored a century in 85 deliveries.
