  • Palak Muchhal is an Indian playback singer who works in Bollywood films and other Indian film industries as a lyricist. She is best known for lending her voice to popular songs in Bollywood films including Ek Tha Tiger (2012), Aashiqui 2 (2013), Kick (2014), Action Jackson (2014), Prem Ratan Dhan Payo (2015), M.S. Dhoni: The Untold Story (2016), Kaabil (2017), Baaghi 2 (2018), and Pal Pal Dil Ke Paas (2019). Her popular song Kaun Tujhe” from the film”M.S. Dhoni: The Untold Story” rose her to prominence in the Bollywood industry.

  • At the age of four, Palak Muchhal got her breakthrough when she appeared as a child artist singer in Kalyanji-Anandji’s Indian reality singing show Little Star, a group of young singers. This show gave her an opportunity to travel across the world in her childhood.
  • According to some media reports, from a younger age, Palak Muchhal was involved in many charitable works and used to raise funds for blind kids, victims of the 1999 Kargil War, heart patients, etc. In 1999, when the Kargil War was going on, at the age of seven, she sang various songs at shops in Indore for a week to collect funds for the families of deceased Indian soldiers. In the same year, during the Odisha cyclone, she sang songs to raise the funds for its victims. In 2007, Palak Muchhal stated in a media conversation that she liked saving a life more than playing with her friends during her childhood. She said,

    At times… [I missed my normal childhood], but then, it dawns on me that even if I lose my childhood, it’s okay. Playing with friends is not more important than saving a life.”

  • When Palak Muchhal was 21 years old, she registered her name in the Guinness Book of World Records and Limca Book of World Records for her social work.
  • Reportedly, Palak Muchhal sings an average of forty songs in each of her charity shows. Her songs include Bollywood songs, Ghazals, and Bhajans.

  • In 2001, during the Gujarat earthquake, Palak Muchhal raised around one million rupees for the victims of the tragedy. In July 2003, Muchhal was in the news when she financially helped the parents of a two-year-old Pakistani girl who had a hole in her heart.
  • She is the founder of a charitable venture titled “Palak Muchhal Heart Foundation.” An overdraft of up to one million rupees was granted to Palak Muchhal Heart Foundation by the Bhandari Hospital in Indore so that the operations of children could not stop due to the shortage of money. According to media sources, in the operation theatre of her charitable unit, doctors allow her to be present during the operations as she chants Jain Navkar Mantra while wearing her own surgical gown in the operation theatre. According to Palak Muchhal, she receives a doll for every child whose life was saved through her efforts. She does not receive any money from any one of her charitable works.

  • In 2006, her life story was broadcasted by Star Gold channel as one of the five heroic stories in its “Rang De Basanti Salaam” (Salute to Color of Sacrifice) initiative.
  • According to Palak Muchhal, she has the ability to sing in 17 different languages including Hindi, Sanskrit, Gujarati, Odia, Assamese, Rajasthani, Bengali, Bhojpuri, Punjabi, Marathi, Kannada, Telugu, Tamil, Sindhi, and Malayalam.

  • When Palak Muchhal was nine years old, she released her first album “Child For Children,” under Tips Music in 2001. She then released her next album titled Palken in 2003. Later, she went on to release many music albums including Aao Tumhe Chand Per Le Jaaye, Beti Hu Mahakal Ki, and Dil Ke Liye. Her next album was Jai Jai Dev Ganesh, which was released by T-Series in 2011.

  • In 2006, she moved to Mumbai from Indore to make her career as a singer in the Bollywood entertainment industry. In October 2011, she made her debut with the song Damadamm. Her next song in Bollywood was “Pyaar Ke Silsile” from the film Na Jaane Kabse.
  • In 2012, the noted Bollywood actor Salman Khan recommended her name to Indian filmmaker Aditya Chopra. Thereafter, she got the opportunity to sing the song Laapata in the film Ek Tha Tiger, and later she earned huge recognition when she lent her voice to many songs in the film Aashiqui 2. In a media interview, Palak Muchhal revealed that she did not struggle to start her singing career when she came to Mumbai from Indore. The first person she met in Mumbai was Salman Khan who gave her a chance to sing in his movie. She said,

    When I came to Mumbai from Indore, I thought I would have to struggle a lot for years. I had planned to go to offices and play my demo CD to ask for work, but I didn’t have to do anything of that sort. I came here and the first person I met was Salman Khan sir and he made me sing in his film.”

  • In 2013, Palak Muchhal worked with the Bollywood music composers Mithoon and Jeet Gannguli in the film Aashiqui 2 in which she sang two songs, which earned positive reviews from film critics. The song “Chahun Main Yaa Na” from the film Aashiqui 2 was her second hit after the film Ek Tha Tiger.
  • In 2013, Palak Muchhal lent her voice to the song “Tui Borsha Bikeler Dheu” in the Bengali film Rocky. In 2014, she sang the song Jumme Ki Raat along with Indian singer Mika Singh in 2014. The song was composed by musician Himesh Reshammiya and became the biggest hit of the year. In 2015, she lent her voice to the songs of the film Prem Ratan Dhan Payo. Her song “Kaun Tujhe” in the film M.S. Dhoni: The Untold Story was listed as one of the top female songs of the year in 2016.   • In a conversation with a media house, Palak recalled that she started singing at the age of two-and-a-half. She sang the iconic song ‘Chalri Sajni Ab Kya Soche’ on stage at her uncle’s wedding. She remembered,

    I don’t come from a musical background. I come from a Marwari family and nobody in my family sings. I started singing when I was two-and-a-half. During the sangeet function of my uncle’s wedding, I went to the stage and sang, ‘Chalri Sajni Ab Kya Soche’, which is an iconic song.”

  • In 2021, Palak Muchhal shared a picture on one of her social media accounts in which she informed that a chapter in her name was added to the books of school children. The picture was clicked from a Sanskrit book, which had a chapter that narrated Palak and her social work. In another picture, it was a paragraph from an English book, which tells the reader about the talent of the young singer, and how she raises money to help the needy and poor children of India.

  • In 2022, Palak Muchhal came into the limelight when she announced her marriage date on social media. On 29 October 2022, it was announced that she would marry Indian musician Mithoon in November 2022 in a five-star hotel in Mumbai.
