  • His ancestors are from Lahore but after the partition, his parents migrated to Delhi from Lahore.
  • He started his career in the entertainment industry as a theatre artist. He joined a theatre group named ‘Ruchika’ soon after completing school education. Feisal Alkazi, son of popular Indian theatre director Ebrahim Alkazi, was also associated with the theatre group.
  • Malhotra’s first play was titled ‘Tughlak’ for which he used to get a daily Rs 350.
  • His performance as an older man in the Hindi play ‘Father’ was highly praised by the audience.
  • In an interview, he revealed that his father wanted him to continue with the family business, so he quit doing theatre after completing college.
