- Phil’s cricket journey began in St Asaph, at that time he played for North East Wales Under-11s.
- At the age of 10, Phil moved to Barbados with his family.
- Phil’s father played rugby and cricket but due to not getting much success in the sports, he later opted to become a property dealer.
- Phil spent most of his time in England playing football, but later, when he shifted to Barbados he got more focused towards cricket.
- Phil played for Barbados Under-15s and returned to England at the age of 15 after spending six years in the Caribbean nation.
- At the age of 15, Phil won a cricket scholarship at Reed School in Surrey, a boarding school which helped him start his English cricket journey.
