Some Lesser Known Facts About Pranitha Patil

• In June 2006, Pranitha Patil started working as a Laboratory Specialist at Texas A&M University in College Station, Texas. She served in the position till August 2010.

• She then served as a Teaching Fellow at the Deshpande Foundation from May 2014 to July 2014 in Mudhol, Karnataka, India.

• She the joined Accenture in the Greater Chicago Area as a Strategy Analyst in July 2014.  She served in the position till December 2015.

• She worked as a Senior Health Strategy Analyst at Accenture from December 2015 to December 2016.

• In December 2016, she was promoted to the position of Health Strategy Consultant at Accenture in the Greater Chicago Area. She worked there till November 2019.

• From November 2019 to August 2020, she served as a Health Strategy Engagement Manager at Accenture in New York City.

• She pursued a Master of Design Engineering at Harvard University from August 2020 to December 2020 in Cambridge, Massachusetts.

• During her studies at Harvard, she started researching about a better and more preventive healthcare system.

• Initially, she thought that a complete preventive healthcare service should be there.

• However, she was not able to find a platform that brought together all the services that she had in her mind.

• After that, Pranitha Patil met Jonathan Swerdlin and also connected with the other founders of her venture. She then decided to turn the idea into a company.

• The other co-founders of the company are Jonathan Swerdlin, Dr. Mark Hyman, Seth Weisfeld, and Dan Swerdlin.

• She left Harvard before completing her programme so that she could work on building Function.

• In 2023, function launched its beta version to the public.

• The company was built on the idea that a normal yearly health check gives only a limited view of a person’s health at one point in time.

• Function started its operations mainly with blood and urine testing.

• After that, the founders planned to combine health-test data with medical imaging, wearable data, and artificial intelligence.

• After that, the investors supported the idea, and the valuation of the Function recorded at $2.5 billion at that time.

• Pranitha Patil once stated at an event of the company that the goal of their company was to reach eight billion people as fast as possible.

• She added that this goal was a part of the vision of their company from the beginning.

• She explained the growth of the company in two stages.

• The first stage was about building the testing system, attracting members, and encouraging people to regularly check their health.

• The company then entered its part two, where it used a large amount of health information, which was collected to provide a deeper understanding of the health problems among people.

• Pranitha Patil believed that artificial intelligence would help healthcare in technology. She also thought that healthcare was slow in using technology as compared to industries such as finance.

• Her own health experience was the starting point of her business idea.

• She did not accept the usual way of waiting for a health problem to appear. She bulit a system which focused on finding warning signs earlier.

• She then co-founded Function Health June 2021, and started working as its Chief Operating Officer. She served in the position till August 2025.

• Pranitha Patil then became known for being the co-founder and Chief Business Officer (CBO) of Function Health, a preventive healthcare company.

• After that, under her leadership, Function Health added medical imaging as part of expansion. It also added supplement intelligence through SuppCo. The company then added home blood draws through Getlabs.
