  • Purab did well in sports during his school days; he played hockey and football. He actively participated in dance competitions and performed in two plays.

  • Purab initially studied science as he wanted to be a pilot since he was a child.
  • In 1996, he enrolled in a flying school while simultaneously studying commerce at a college. After four months, he quit pilot training due to the high cost and switched to arts.
  • After quitting the pilot training, Purab did a part-time job as a telemarketer at a call centre. He even worked with sculptor Arzan Khambatta for a brief period.
  • Purab had his first relationship at 15 during which he also had his first kiss; the relationship lasted about six months.
  • He once decided to pursue hotel management and even had an interview scheduled at Sophia College in Mumbai. He, however, dropped it after realising it was not what he wanted.
  • Purab continued to perform in plays and participate in dance events when he was in college. He also took part in dance events organised outside of college.

  • During his college days, a relative encouraged him to audition for the television series ‘Hip Hip Hurray’ (1998), which marked his television debut. Although he was unsure at first, he went for it and received lots of praise for his work in the series.
