They successfully operated the restaurant for 18 years; however, he sold his restaurant to his younger brother in 2005 after the death of his father.

Following his time in prison, he redirected his focus towards his creative pursuits, delving into the realms of painting and music.

• Upon his release from prison, Rafael Reyes authored a book titled “Living Dangerously,” which recounted his experiences of childhood struggles and gang life. The book gained recognition and was included in the Architecture and Planning Special Collections at Cornell University Library.
