In 2017, Delhi Police booked Rakhi Sawant, Rakesh Sawant, and Raj Khatri, his business partner for an alleged fraud of Rs 6 lakhs. Reportedly, Shailesh Srivastava, a retired bank employee, was introduced to Rakesh Sawant through Raj Khatri, as Shailesh wanted to start a business with Rakesh Sawant. They decided to produce a film based on Gurmeet Ram Rahim’s life story and open an acting and dance institute in Vikaspuri, Delhi. According to sources, Rakesh assured Shailesh that Rakhi would be a part of the institute after which Rakesh and Raj Khari borrowed Rs 6 lakhs from Shailesh and later, they gave him a post-dated cheque of Rs 7 lakh, which bounced back because of the wrong signatures. In an interview, Rakesh shared that he and Raj Khari opened an acting and dance institute in Vikaspuri, Delhi in partnership with each other. He went from Mumbai to Delhi for a while to take care of his mother, who was sick at that time. After some time, he returned to Delhi from Mumbai and realised that his belongings and a chequebook were missing from his office. He filed two FIRs; one in Delhi and one in Mumbai. He added that Rakhi Sawant was not involved in the matter, and the case is between him and his partner. He said,
"This matter is between me and my partner, Raj Khatri with whom I had opened an acting institute in Delhi under partnership when my mother fell seriously ill and I had to come to Mumbai for her treatment for a month. Later, when I went back, my partner had cheated me and all my belongings, including a chequebook, were missing from the office we had opened together. In fact, I had also filed two FIRs, one in Delhi and one in Mumbai for the missing chequebooks. And if you read carefully, the case is of the wrong signature on the cheque. I have enough proof to prove this wrong. And coming back to my sister Rakhi, she has nothing to do with this case. She in fact has no knowledge of the deal. Her name has been dragged into this controversy for no fault of hers." [1]The Times of India

  • In February 2022, Rakhi Sawant filed a complaint against Adil Khan Durrani at the Oshiwara Police Station. Allegedly, Adil Khan Durrani thrashed her and stole all of her money and jewellery. Adil was booked under  IPC sections 406 and 420 and was called for questioning. In an interview, Rakesh Sawant talked about the matter and said that the next day after the demise of their mother, he, along with some of his relatives, went to Rakhi’s house to feed her and found her crying. Her face was swollen, and when the relatives asked her about the matter, she revealed that Adil thrashed her on the same day their mother died. First, he took her to the hospital and then went to the police station to file an FIR against Adil. Rakesh Sawant said,

    Never thought that he will stoop down to such a level. We even forgave two or three times. The next day after the demise of our mother, when we went to Rakhi’s house to feed her, that time we noticed Rakhi’s face is swollen. She was crying, when our relatives asked her then she revealed that Adil has beaten her on the same day our mother passed away. And when we saw marks on Rakhi’s body, we got so angry that we requested Rakhi to get her medical done at Cooper hospital. Ahead of our mother’s 13th-day ritual, Rakhi’s and her mother’s jewellery and money were stolen. I spoke to Adil on the same day he raised his hand on my sister. He misbehaved with us over the call and he said it was our personal matter. But he can’t misbehave like this. And those who say Hindus and Muslims should unite in today’s time.
