Controversies Remarks against the Vice President and RSTV on Yoga Day
On 21 June 2015, he took to his X (formerly Twitter) account to question the absence of then Vice-President of India, Hamid Ansari, on the Yoga Day while also accusing Rajya Sabha TV of blacking out the events of the Yoga Day. His accusation against the Rajya Sabha TV later turned out to be false after social media users posted screenshots of the Rajya Sabha TV's display of Yoga Day events. He later apologised on X for his remarks on Hamid Ansari and claimed his absence was due to his illness. Vice President's office later released a statement claiming that he wasn't invited on the Yoga Day. Later, Ram Madhav deleted all his statements from X.

Controversial remarks during an interview
In 2015, during one of Al Jazeera's show, 'Head to Head' with journalist Mehdi Hasan, he replied to one of the questions by saying 'your ISIS,' a phrase which was received negatively by the studio audience. Later, he clarified that it was just a slip of the tongue.
