  • Rohit Dhankar was born and grew up in Humayunpur village in Rohtak.
  • He was a professional bodybuilder and was working as a gym trainer at the Gymkhana Club in Sector 4, Rohtak.
  • Since childhood, Rohit Dhankar has had a disability in his right leg.
  • Despite his disability, he had represented India internationally.
  • In 2017, his father died due to cardiac arrest. After his father’s death, he was the only breadwinner for his mother and sister.
  • He was a two-time junior para national record holder and a seven-time senior para national champion in powerlifting.
  • In 2018, he won gold medals in the 2018 senior (107+ kg) and junior (107+ kg) categories at national-level competitions.
  • On 15 August 2018, he was also honoured by Haryana’s then chief minister Manohar Lal Khattar.
  • On November 27, 2025, Rohit attended a wedding in Bhiwani with his friend Jatin, who is from Bondkalan village. During the ceremony, when the groom arrived at the wedding venue, some youths from the groom’s side allegedly began harassing the girls at the venue. Rohit and his friend Jatin objected to a group of men for their behaviour.

  • When Rohit and his friends were returning to their home from the wedding, the same group of men blocked their car on the road. They also have rods and sharp weapons.
  • Due to the closed railway crossing, Rohit and Jatin didn’t get a chance to escape.
  • His friend Jatin came out of the car and asked them to talk in the morning, but they attacked Rohit, who was sitting on the passenger seat.
  • They attacked Dhankar with iron rods and hockey sticks, leaving him seriously injured. His friend somehow managed to escape the assault.
  • Rohit was first admitted to Bhiwani General Hospital for first aid. After his condition worsened, he was referred to Pandit BD Sharma Post Graduate Institute of Medical Sciences, Rohtak, where he died of his injuries.
  • After the incident, his friend Jatin narrated the whole incident to the police. He said,

Rohit and I had gone to my relative’s wedding. These people were using abusive language, so we objected to it. The matter was resolved after my brother-in-law intervened. However, when we left the venue after around an hour, those same men stopped our vehicle. I told them, let’s talk tomorrow. But by then, they managed to open the passenger seat window where Rohit was sitting. They then hit the window glass on my side with a rod. I drove away, but they started stalking us.”

  • After the death of Rohit Dhankar, Bhiwani Sadar, SHO Vikas said that a murder case has been registered. Six suspects have been detained, and one vehicle used in the attack has been seized. Four names are listed in the FIR, while others are still being identified.
  • Police added that approximately 20 men were involved in the assault.
  • Rohit’s uncle said there was not a single part of his body that didn’t have injury marks.
  • Rohit’s brother-in-law, Ravi Khassa, said,

The family is devastated and is demanding the death penalty for the accused”

  • After receiving news of Rohit’s death, Bhiwani police arrived at PGIMS (Rohtak), where they recorded the family’s statements and got the post-mortem examination done. The body was later handed over to the family.
