Controversies• The Launa-Parsa Massacre Case
Shakuni Choudhary was one of the main suspects in the Launa-Parsa massacre case in 1995, which involved a grenade attack that killed Congress candidate Sachchidanand Singh and six other people during the 1995 Bihar assembly elections. Singh was taken to a hospital in Tarapur, where he was assassinated. Nine additional deaths occured in small other incidents that transpired from the initial grenade attack. Choudhary was one of thirty-three people charged in this massacre case. Shortly after the incident, the investigations concluded, and Choudhary went on to win the 1995 Bihar Assembly elections.   • Shakuni Choudhary is an Indian politician who took charge as a Deputy Speaker in the 2009 Bihar Assembly. He has served as a Member of the Bihar Assembly seven times and as a Member of Parliament in the 12th Lok Sabha. He was also a founding member of the Samata Party.
  • In 2015, he contested the Bihar Assembly elections from the Tarapur constituency on a ticket of the Hindustani Awam Morcha but lost to Mewalal Chaudhary of Janata Dal (United) with a margin of 12,000 votes.
  • Prior to entering politics, Shakuni Choudhary served in the Indian Army for fifteen years. He fought in the Indian Army in the wars of 1962, 1965, and 1971.
  • He left the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) in March 2014 and became a member of the Janata Dal (United). He explained his decision to switch parties later in an interview and alleged that Lalu Prasad Yadav was controlling the party in a dictatorial manner with the goal of furthering the interests of his own family.
  • In 2015, Shakuni Choudhary joined Jitan Ram Manjhi’s rebellion and later the Hindustani Awam Morcha, a party that Manjhi started after splitting from the Janata Dal (United).
