Controversy | Transgender Competitor's Victory: On 2 October 2023, Swapna faced criticism for a post in which she alleged losing her bronze medal at the 2023 Asian Games to a transgender athlete. In the post, she further asked for support and help while claiming that the participation of the competitor Agasara Nandini in the competition was illegal. While Swapna later deleted the post, Nandini replied to her claims through a post on X. In the post, Nandini said that she would take this matter to the federation. She questioned why Swapna didn't raise concerns during the event if she had an issue with her participation. [1]The Hindu Agasara-Nandini's post read, I will definitely take it up with the federation. I will not leave this lightly. I won my first international medal, here at the Asian Games, and I wanted to enjoy it a little but but I have not got a chance to do even that. Why did she not say anything when I started competing? How can someone say something like this about another woman." |
