  • Swapnil ignored his board exams of class 12th to watch Abhinav Bindra compete in the finals of the 2008 Olympics.
  • Swapnil’s sporting journey began in 2009 when he was 14 years old. His father enrolled him in the Krida Prabodhini Scheme under the government of Maharashtra. He received his initial training in Nashik and later shifted his base to Pune.
  • Swapnil has been sponsored by Lakshya Sports since 2013.
  • Swapnil considers Gagan Narang and Abhinav Bindra as his idols.

  • Swapnil is an employee of Indian Railways and has been working as a Travelling Ticket Examiner (TTE) in the Pune Division of Central Railway since 2015.

  • Swapnil once developed a chronic tonsils issue, which led to extreme pain, fever, and weakness for days. Later, the doctor discovered it was because of lactose intolerance and advised him to avoid consuming dairy products.
  • In October 2022, Swapnil won India’s third quota place in shooting for the Paris Olympics 2024 when he came fourth in the men’s 50m rifle 3 positions (3P) event on Day 10 of the ISSF World Championship.
  • Swapnil had the chance to make history in the Asian Games 2023 when he was on the verge of winning India’s first Asian Games gold medal in shooting sports in 50m 3P. He failed to do so as his final shot of 7.6 shifted his position from first to fourth.
  • Swapnil was selected for the 2024 Paris Summer Olympics after he shot 592 to top qualification in the men’s rifle 3-position event in the Olympic selection trials at the Dr Karni Singh Range, Tughlakabad, Delhi.
