  • In 2019, Tashi left the Jammu and Kashmir People’s Democratic Party and joined the BJP. In an interview, he revealed that he changed his party because of the BJP party’s progressive mindset and dedication to working for the overall development of the region. He also said that the development made by the BJP party over the last few years was a practical implication of the slogan ‘Sabka Saath Sabka Vikas.’

  • Soon after joining the Bharatiya Janata Party, Gyalson was appointed as the District President of BJP Ladakh.
  • On 31 October 2020, he became the chairman of the Ladakh Autonomous Hill Development Council, Leh.
  • In January 2024, Tashi Gyalson chaired a meeting with Leh’s heads of socio-religious organisations to discuss the rebranding of the Health & Wellness Centre in Leh, Ladakh.
  • On 23 April 2024, the Bharatiya Janata Party replaced the standing Member of Parliament Jamyang Tsering Namgyal with Tashi as the BJP candidate for the 2024 Indian General Elections from Leh.
