Controversy | Arrest in Delhi [3]NIA [4]ANI Vikas was arrested in Delhi on June 20, 2023, under the Unlawful Activities Prevention Act (UAPA) after Lawrence Bishnoi, a notorious gangster, revealed his name during an interrogation. It was later uncovered that Vikas had provided shelter to several members of the Bishnoi gang. Allegedly, Deepak Surakhpur and Divyanshu, who hailed from Faizabad, were involved in the attack on the Punjab Intelligence headquarters in Mohali in May 2022. Following the attack, they took refuge at Vikas's residence in Deogarh village and his flat at 77/04 A Block, Gomti Nagar Vistar, Lucknow, for an extended period. The duo was also linked to the murders of businessman Sanjay Biyani in Nanded and Rana Kandhowalia in Punjab. Surakhpur allegedly got introduced to Vikas through Vicky Middukhera, a friend of Bishnoi. Furthermore, Vikas was accused of harboring Rinku, another suspect in the Kandhowalia murder case. In early 2020, Vikas was also suspected of providing shelter to Monu Dagar, Pradhan of Bahadurgarh, Cheema of Chandigarh, and Rajan of Kurukshetra at his Lucknow flat. It was later revealed that Vikas was accused in 10 additional criminal cases involving offenses such as murder, attempted murder, violations of the arms act, and gangster act. On June 21, 2023, Vikas appeared before vacation judge Pawan Kumar in the Patiala House Court in New Delhi, where he was sentenced to five days of police custody. |
