• Ayan Mukerji is an Indian director, actor, screenwriter, and producer. He is the director of the 2022 Bollywood film Brahmāstra: Part One – Shiva.

• Ayan Mukerji is from the famous Mukherjee-Samarth family. Ayan’s parents and grandparents have worked in the Indian film industry. His grandfather, Sashadhar Mukherjee, was a filmmaker. He was also the co-founder of the Filmalaya Studios in Amboli, Mumbai.

• During an interview, Ayan Mukerji claimed that after dropping out of his graduation, he approached his brother-in-law Ashutosh Gowariker, a film director, who gave him an opportunity to work alongside him as an assistant director in the 2004 Bollywood film titled Swades. He said,
  

  I approached my brother-in-law Ashutosh Gowariker and he gave me an amazing window to the cinema. I will be for ever grateful to him.”

• Ayan Mukerji, in an interview, said that while working as an assistant director in the Bollywood film Swades, he got an opportunity to work closely with Shah Rukh Khan and developed a close bond, which boosted Ayan’s confidence to directly contact Karan Johar, a Bollywood film director and producer.   The stint helped me acquaint myself with superstar Shah Rukh Khan and gave me the much needed confidence to send a text message directly to Karan Johar. We later met at a film festival which was held in Goa in 2004 and I got a job of assisting Karan Johar on his film Kabhi Alvida Naa Kehna.”

• In an interview, Ayan Mukerji claimed that he does not want to direct a Bengali film due to its limited reach. He said,
  

  No, I do not want to make a film there. Language plays a very important role. Language is used to communicate your actual thought. Hindi films are the currency where I can reach more people and say what I want to say (sic).”

• According to Ayan Mukerji, to direct Brahmastra, he drew his inspiration from Hollywood films such as Harry Potter and The Lord of the Rings. While talking about the film, he said,
