- His family asserted that his murder was a result of political animosity, linking it to Prabhakar Singh, the spouse of Asmoli Block Head Santosh Devi, along with Santosh’s son Aniket, and individuals named Amit Chaudhary from Bhawalpur Wasli and Pushpendra from Sambhal. Anuj had reportedly defeated Pushpendra in the Panchayat election. An FIR against these individuals was lodged at Majhola Police Station in connection to the murder.
