• Bittu Tabahi, Surendra Singh Choudhary of Biaora in Rajgarh district, Madhya Pradesh is known throughout the country.

• Bittu, wanting to do more than wait for the authorities, had found piles of plastic, algae, sludge and garbage near a temple in the Ajnar river.

• The Chief Minister’s Instagram account shared the video of the meeting. On 6 September 2026, Dhruv Rathee, a YouTuber, criticized this meeting and termed it a PR move by the government.

• He said that one boy did everything and government called him for photo opportunity only when he went viral.

• Bittu in turn, responded to Rathee directly stating that the meeting was not meant for him to take credit for it and that the government had valued his work even in the past. The problem is civic consciousness and that if everyone knew their responsibility, they would step forward to clean up, just like he did, he added.

• At this time, Biaora’s municipal authorities had already donated machinery for waste removal from the river and the people of Biaora had also begun working on waste removal.

• There were still five major drains pouring wastewaters into the river and the municipality had planned to build a sewage treatment plant with a budget of Rs 14.77 crore.

• The waste was added by people who still leave flowers and other religious items in the river. Bittu gathered up some of these offerings and used them to make compost.
