  • Guddu Muslim is an Indian bomb maker and property dealer. He was a close aide of the Indian politician and gangster Atiq Ahmed.
  • Since his school days, he was involved in robbery and extortion. While he was in school, he learned to make bombs from a local goon.
  • Soon, his parents came to know about his activities, and they decided to shift him to Lucknow at one of their relatives’ home.
  • In Lucknow, he continued his higher studies and enrolled himself at the University of Lucknow. There, he met two goons named Abhay Singh and Dhananjay Singh. In association with Abhay and Dhananjay, Guddu got involved with some high-end crimes.
  • In 1996, Guddu murdered the Indian contractor Santosh Singh. Soon, after the murder, he escaped to Bihar as Uttar Pradesh’s Special Task Force was searching for him in Santosh Singh’s murder case.
  • In March 1997, Guddu, along with Dhananjay Singh, made the headline for murdering Fredrick J. Gomes, a physical education teacher at La Martiniere College in Lucknow. Guddu was arrested by the local police in the murder case, and during the police interrogation, he even accepted his crime. However, he was released due to the lack of evidence.
  • Gradually, he became popular among the criminals in Uttar Pradesh. Various Indian politicians started taking his help in getting railways and mobile towers projects.
  • Guddu then met the Indian goon Sriprakash Shukla and worked with him in various criminal activities. According to various sources, Guddu considers Shukla his guru. Later, after the police encounter of Shukla, Guddu associated with Parvez Tada, a mafia from Gorakhpur, who was also a friend of Shukla.
  • Parvez then introduced Guddu to the Indian gangster and politician Atiq Ahmed. After the police encounter of Parvez, Guddu became a close associate of Atiq and assisted Atiq in various criminal activities.

  • In 2001, Guddu was arrested in the Santosh Singh murder case by Uttar Pradesh Special Task Force outside Beur jail in Patna. However, with Atiq’s political influence, Guddu was released. In an interview, while talking about Guddu, retired CO of the Police Department Shivpujan Yadav said,

    I was in Gorakhpur Police Department from the 90’s to the 2000s. At that time Guddu Muslim’s name came up in many big incidents. At that time its location was always available on the Nepal border. After executing any incident, Guddu used to run away to Nepal and take shelter there.”

  • In 2005, Guddu became one of the accused in the murder case of MLA Raju Pal. Initially, his name was not included in the case. Later, when Mayawati‘s government came into power, MLA Raju Pal’s murder case was reopened and the names of six shooters including Guddu Muslim were included in the police report.
  • On 28 March 2023, a court in Prayagraj found Atiq Ahmed and two others guilty in the 2006 Umesh Pal, (a key witness in Raju Pal murder case) kidnapping case; special MP-MLA court judge Dinesh Chandra Shukla held Atiq Ahmad, Saulat Hanif, a lawyer, and Dinesh Pasi guilty in the case under Indian Penal Code section 364-A (kidnapping or abduction in order to murder). However, seven others, including Atiq Ahmed’s brother Khalid Azim alias Ashraf, were acquitted in the case. Later, Atiq Ahmed was brought from a Gujarat prison to Prayagraj following a 24-hour road journey by the Uttar Pradesh police. On 24 February 2023, Umesh Pal was shot dead while he was getting out of the backseat of a Hyundai Creta SUV in Prayagraj; two police bodyguards, accompanying Umesh Pal, were also killed in the shootout. The UP Police then recovered a CCTV footage in which Guddu Muslim was seen throwing bombs at Umesh Pal and his bodyguards.

    Guddu then escaped from the police and fled from West Bengal to Bihar, Gujarat, and Delhi. The UP Police said that a resident of Jhansi named Satish Pandey gave shelter to Guddu while he was escaping from the police. However, Satish’s wife denied it and said the information given to the police was wrong. Later, the UP Police placed a show cause notice at Guddu’s home.

  • On 15 April 2023, while Atiq Ahmed was having a conversation with the media person at the premises of MLN Medical College, Prayagraj, Atiq was talking about Guddu which turned out to be his last words as he was shot dead by three shooters there. Atiq’s last words were,

    Main baat ye hai ki Guddu Muslim.”

  • In an interview, a police official said that Guddu is highly skilled in making bombs. He said Guddu carried an explosive bomb powder in his pocket with which he made bombs in a few minutes. For his skills, he gained popularity as Guddu Bambaj. [3]Patrika
  • Guddu Muslim owns a chicken shop which he has started in his son’s name.
  • According to the sources, once, when Guddu was hospitalised, Atiq Ahmed gave him financial assistance of Rs 8 lakh.
