• In 1990, Kunwar Vijay Shah was elected as a Member of the Legislative Assembly in Madhya Pradesh.

• After that, he went on to win every election from the Harsud constituency, such as in 1993, 1998, 2003, 2008, 2013, 2018, and 2023.

• In the third government of Shivraj Singh Chouhan, he served as the School Education Minister.

• Kunwar Vijay Shah then served as the Forest Minister in the fourth government of Shivraj Singh Chouhan.

• He has also held other positions such as Minister for Tribal Affairs, Tourism, Public Asset Management, Panchayat Raj, and Rural Development.

• He got the idea from Queen Elizabeth II’s daughter, Princess Anne, who used to charge for photos and handshakes. Shah said that the money collected would be spent on building a Tribal Old Age Home in Harsud in 2016.

• He also clarified that even those who could not pay the money were still welcome to take a selfie with him.

• In 2018, he commented and targeted the transgender community during a political rally.
