Controversies • Received death threat over the phone
Masoom, on 16 March 2021, received a WhatsApp call from a random person, who threatened to kill him. Firstly, he hurled abuses at Masoom over the call and later, the same person intimidated Masoom into killing his family members. Masoom said,
When I asked the caller his identity, he did not respond and hung up."
Masoom, horrified by the call, immediately rushed to the Julana police station and registered a complaint against the accused.[4]Dainik Jagran

• Case registered for allegedly blackmailing a woman
In December 2021, a woman registered a complaint at the Julana police station against Masoom Sharma and three other people namely Gaurav, Vikas, and Deepak. The woman alleged that she was sexually assaulted and raped by Masoom’s brothers, Vikas and Deepak, and one of their mutual friends, Gaurav. The woman, who claimed that she was intimidated by death threats, revealed that Gaurav borrowed Rs 48000 from her with an excuse to treat her mother’s health condition. However, when she asked to return her money, Gaurav kept delaying her request to pay back the amount. After a few days, Gaurav called the victim over to Masoom’s recording studio with the pretext of returning the borrowed money and eventually, raped her. Later, she was raped by Masoom's brothers, Deepak and Vikas. After assaulting her sexually, Gaurav recorded the incident and blackmailed her to leak the video if she intended to disclose the matter. The woman claimed that Masoom threatened to kill her if she reported the matter to the police. [5]Dainik Jagran

• Shot at the comedian Vishwash Chauhan
In July 2022, Vishwash Chauhan, a stand-up comedian from Haryana, registered a complaint against Masoom Sharma for allegedly firing at him with his revolver at his residence in Rohtak, Haryana. Vishwas claimed that Masoom got into an intense spat with him after which Masoom shot at him. However, the bullet didn’t hit him. Vishwas accused Masoom of intimidating him at gunpoint to vacate his premises within fifteen days. Later, Vishwas registered a complaint against him at the local police station following which the dispute was settled between Masoom and Vishwash by the police officials.

  • Masoom Sharma is an Indian singer, lyricist, and composer, famous for rendering his voice to Haryanvi music videos. Masoom came into the limelight in 2014 for lending his voice to the Haryanvi song Kothe Chad Lalkaru, which amassed views of more than 2 crores.
  • Inclined towards singing at a young age, Masoom used to perform Haryanvi Ragnis during stage shows in his hometown.

  • Masoom’s debut music album, Jalwa Haryana, consisted of eight audio songs. However, the album failed to leave an impression among the viewers. Later, Masoom along with his friend, Mukesh Grover, launched GV Videos, a music company, which released cassettes and DVDs of Masoom’s Haryanvi songs.

Manish used Masoom’s identity to chat with random girls with the pretext of providing modelling opportunities to them in the music videos. Masoom alleged that Manish used to chat indecently with several girls by faking himself as Masoom, which consequently, disgraced his image among his fans. When Masoom came to the notice of the fake Facebook account, he immediately reported the matter to the Julana police station and thereafter Manish was arrested.

  • On 23 June 2022, within three weeks after Sidhu Moose Wala‘s death, his song SYL was released on Youtube. The song allegedly highlighted various controversial issues like the contention between Punjab and Haryana regarding the Sutlej-Yamuna Link canal, ownership of Punjab in the canal’s water, undivided Punjab, the 1984 anti-Sikh Riots, and the hoisting of the Sikh flag at the Red Fort during the farmer agitation.
