Some Lesser Known Facts About N.P. Singh

  • He was a rank holder at the Institute of Cost Accountants of India and was honoured for his merit.
  • N.P. Singh worked at Hindustan Copper Limited from January 1981 till December 1988. He held many positions there and left the company as a Senior Accounts Officer.
  • From December 1988 to December 1995, N.P. Singh worked at Modi Xerox Limited. After serving many positions in the company, he left the job as a Controller of Business Operations.
  • He worked at Modicorp for more than two years (January 1996 – May 1998). He held several positions there including Chief Financial Officer.
  • N.P. Singh worked at Spice Telecom as the Chief Financial Officer from May 1998 to June 1999.
  • In 1999, he joined Sony Entertainment Television India Private Limited (SET India) as the Chief Financial Officer, just 4 years after it launched its first channel. In the same year, the company launched its second channel ‘Sony Max’ which became a huge success. N. P. Singh served in this position till 2003.
  • In 2005, ‘SET India Network’ bought the channel ‘SAB TV’ from the Sri Adhikari Brothers and renamed it ‘Sony SAB.’ It gained popularity for the sitcom ‘Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah’ which started in 2008.

  • On 24 May 2024, after announcing his decision to quit his position at the SPNI, he was replaced by Gaurav Banerjee, who had a leading position at Disney Star.
  • N.P. Singh left SPNI to devote himself to bring social changes. He wanted to work where he could perform advisory roles. Some people said that his departure was because of the unsuccessful merger deal worth $ 10 billion with ZEE (Zee Entertainment Enterprises) which ended in January 2024.
  • He was always practical in approach and driven towards the costs and profits, due to which his rivals nicknamed him ‘CFO in a CEO role.’
