- Shivangi Kolhapure is a well-known Indian actress as well as a singer. She is the wife of renowned Bollywood actor Shakti Kapoor. She worked in a number of Bollywood films including Do Anjaane (1976), Barood (1976), and Saajan Bina Suhagan (1978).
- She is the first child of her parents among three daughters.
- She was only 9 years old when she debuted as a child singer.
- Shivangi Kolhapure was 18 years old when she got married to Shakti Kapoor.
- Shivangi Kolhapure met Shakti Kapoor for the first time on the set of the film Kismet (1980). The two immediately hit off and ended up falling in love with each other. They decided to get married after being in a secret relationship for two years, but, Shivangi’s parents weren’t happy when they got to know about the two and locked Shivangi in a room. Shakti, who was twelve years elder than Shivangi, was disliked by her parents because of his age and the fact that he majorly played negative roles in Bollywood films. When they saw no other way to convince her parents, the couple decided to elope. In an interview, Shakti Kapoor talked about Shivangi Kolhapure and said,
Shivani and I eloped and got married. She is Maharashtrian and I am Punjabi. I played the villain and my reputation was not good. Her family did not agree to the marriage, so we had to run away. When she was 19, my son Siddhanth was born. That was the first time Shivangi’s mother spoke to her after our marriage when she came to meet her at Breach Candy Hospital.”
- When Shivangi’s father-in-law, Sikandarlal Kapoor, got to know about their marriage, he decided not to talk with his son. Shakti’s mother expressed her desire to meet Shivangi. As soon as his mother saw her, she said,
Badi pyaari bachhi hai (He said that she is really nice). She sang two lines and my father stood up and asked how come she sings so well. I told Lata ji is her first cousin, he stood up and said, “Teri sab galtiyaan maaf (All your mistakes are forgiven), because you got married in such big family.” He asked her to sing Lata ji’s song and shared that he a huge fan of hers. As soon as Shivangi sang, he got emotional.”
- On 15 August 2015, Shivangi’s father, Pandharinath Kolhapure, suffered from a heart attack; he was admitted to a hospital four days prior to his demise.
