• She had changed her name from Usha Pandit to Vijayta Pandit for films.

• She belongs to a musical family from the Pili Mandori village in Haryana.

• She made her debut in the film industry when she was only 14 years old.

• She was found by the actor and filmmaker Rajendra Kumar after he noticed her accompanying her sister, Sulakshana Pandit, at the trial of her film, ‘Garam Khoon’ (1980).

• In an interview, Vijayta recalled that Rajendra Kumar visited her home to sign her up for his debut film ‘Love Story’ (1981) as a producer and despite her parents rejecting the offer, she eagerly accepted it and said,
  

  He came home and told my sister that he wanted to sign me as heroine in his debut film as a producer. My sister told him that I was just in 8th standard and that she will have to ask my parents. My parents told my sister that I should complete my studies first, but I told my parents that I wanted to act and promised to pursue my studies side by side.

• Although she was selected as a lead in the film, she refused to screen test which worried Rajendra Kumar.

• Later, Rajendra Kumar took Raj Kapoor‘s advice and asked Vijayta to take a 3-month crash course in acting from director Roshan Taneja before the filming began.

• During the shooting of the film, she fell in love with her fellow actor, Kumar Gaurav, and entered into a relationship with him.

• In an interview, she claimed that after the success of her film, the couple became a fan favourite but Rajendra Kumar, father of Kumar Gaurav, refused to come to terms with their relationship and tried to sabotage it.

• She further claimed that whenever she was paired with Kumar Gaurav in a film, Rajendra Kumar would have her removed from it and hire another actress.

• She has appeared in various films including ‘Misaal’ (1985), ‘Jeete Hain Shaan Se’ (1987), ‘Deewana Tere Naam Ka’ (1987), and ‘Aag Ke Sholay’ (1988).

• During the filming of ‘Misaal’ (1985), film actor and producer Mahrukh Mirza proposed her for marriage.

• Her first marriage with Sameer did not last long.

• In 1990, she married music composer Aadesh Shrivastava and quit her acting career in favour of her musical career.

• In an interview, she revealed that due to her sister Sulakshana’s deteriorating mental health, she has not told her about Sandhya’s death and instead lies to her that Shandya lives in Indore.

• She has talked about facing financial troubles after the death of her husband in an interview and said,
  

  Unfortunately, he fell ill and all the money that he had earned was spent on his treatment. Aadesh even sold his expensive car for Rs 1 crore so that we could travel to London, USA, and Canada for his treatment. Later, even I had to sell the car that Aadesh had gifted me on my birthday.”
