  • Gaur Gopal Das is an Indian monk, lifestyle coach, motivational speaker, and author who is widely known for sharing his life lessons, experiences, and teachings at an international level and helping people, especially youth to learn more about spirituality through a distinctive way of explaining. He gained popularity through his energetic speeches, which have practicality, logical reasoning, and a subtle form of humour. Gaur Gopal Das is a former engineer and a senior saint in the International Society for Krishna Consciousness (ISKCON). He is considered to be one of the most famous monks in India.
  • He was born into a middle-class Marwari Jain family in Wambori, Maharashtra.
  • He grew up as a pampered child, who never ate a meal at home if it wasn’t made according to his preference.
  • In an interview, he revealed that since childhood, he always wanted to be someone who would make an impact in the world and people’s lives through his work.
  • While talking about his inspiration of becoming an impactful person in an interview, Gaur Gopal Das said that he finds himself fortunate enough to be surrounded by people who worked compassionately to make an impact in the world. He added that one of his neighbours, who was a school teacher, used to teach English grammar and spoken English to some unprivileged children for four days a week in the evenings. Gaur was inspired to be someone like him when he came to know that the neighbour used to teach those children for free. While recalling another such incident of his life, he mentioned that when he grew up, there was a group of around 60 youngsters of the 18-24 age group near his house, who would tell their mothers to save a fist full of rice every single time they would cook it. Once a month, the group would bring all the rice together and gather some money from their parents to buy ingredients to cook khichadi, sambar, or dal and share it with the underprivileged members of the community.
  • In an interview, he talked about his father, who died in 2009 due to Parkinson’s disease, a disorder of the central nervous system, and said that he used to work extra hours to give his best at work so that someone somewhere would get its benefit; however, in one of his videos on social media, Gaur Gopal Das revealed that he did not have good relations with his father, and he had stopped taking to him for almost 2 years. He added that his father once put his head on Das’ feet and begged him to keep his ego aside and talk to him; Gaur Gopal Das started talking to his father when his mother asked him to do so.
  • As a result of such experiences, Gaur Gopal Das, while pursuing a degree in engineering, decided to be helpful to someone for which he approached two 10th-class students and asked them if he could help them with their studies; Gaur Gopal taught them Mathematics two hours a day for a year as they needed some guidance with the subject.
  • After completing his studies in electrical engineering, Gaur Gopal Das was hired as an electrical engineer at Hewlett Packard (HP), an American multinational information technology company. In 1996, he resigned from the company to become a monk and a lifestyle coach.

  • In an interview, Das, who had received great achievements in academics, recalled his initial days in the monastery and revealed that he experienced humility when he saw other monks in the monastery with more excellent academic achievements; however, he learnt about humility from his teacher Radhanath Swami, who taught him that humility should be seen as a magnificent quality, which is considered to be important for growth in any field including professional, spiritual, and professional.

  • Gaur Gopal das talked about his daily monastery routine in an interview and said that his regular days in the monastery start around 3 am in the morning following a group meditation, which continues till a quarter past 7. After meditation, all monks have their breakfast and later gather for discussion on scriptures and spiritual principles that take place till 9 am and then everyone in the monastery performs their respective work such as taking online classes and attending guests. After having lunch at 2:30 pm, everyone again gathers for group discussions and then some of them go out in the evening to share their teachings with the students outside. Gaur, in the interview, mentioned that he shared his teachings by going out of the monastery and reaching out to the students just like other monks for nearly five years but with time, he switched to the online modes of teaching and started connecting to the followers through a digital platform. He added that he practices gratitude, recounting all the things that happened during the day before going to the bed.
  • In 2005, Gaur Gopal Das started travelling across cities and countries to share deeper spiritual, corporate, and personal insights with the people. He is more into the corporate world, and most of his flights are for corporate teachings. While talking about his flights in an interview, he said,
