Controversy | Attacked by Mob in a Drunk and Hit Case Abhijeet Sawant, once a singing sensation, made news for all the wrong reasons. Sawant, while coming back after having a night out with his friends, was driving an Audi. His friend Prajakta Shukre was on the steering of her Honda City. Sawant and Shukre when saw an empty road began to race their cars. Prajakta in a hurry, smashed her car into a scooter injuring both the rider and the pillion of the two-wheeler. Sawant, when came to aid his friend, was beaten up by the mob and Prajakta was arrested on charges of negligent driving. She, however, was released on bail. [5]NDTV Later, while talking to the reporters, the local police said, "Locals who had witnessed the entire accident immediately gathered at the spot and assaulted Sawant, who was trying to appease the crowd. We rushed to the spot. After pacifying the crowd, we brought Shukre and Sawant to the police station. A case was registered against Shukre, who was later released on bail.” Later, when one the reporters asked the eyewitnesses about the accident, he said, "The three cars, including that of Shukre, were racing. Shukre was driving at 110kmph. After ramming into the two-wheeler, it hit a tree. We lost our temper only when Sawant came to intervene and said that he had a lot of contacts and would pay for treatment. It was not about the money, but the way he spoke was rude, for which the locals got agitated.” |

- While he was a child, he lived with his joint family of seven to eight members in a one-room house.
- While he was studying in school, he was not a bright student. In an interview, he shared that he used to have anxiety attacks during exams.
- In class 6, he sang for the first time on stage at his school’s singing competition. His teachers appreciated his performance, and from there, he developed an interest in singing.
