- Alka Yagnik Was born into a modest Gujarati Family.
- At the age of six, she started singing for Akashvani (All India Radio) Calcutta, and at the age of 10, her mother brought her to Mumbai to scale up her singing career. Initially, her voice was rejected on the pretext of being too soft and immature and was asked to wait for her voice getting matured.
- Her mother Shubha Yagnik is also trained in Indian classical music.
