• Anjali Mamgai is an Indian dancer and choreographer who became the first runner-up of the dance reality show India’s Best Dancer Season 3 which aired on SonyLIV in 2023.

• Anjali belongs to Uttarakhand. She lives with her mother and two younger sisters. Her father was an alocoholic and died when she was 13 years old after which Anjali with her mother and sisters left the house due to the family member’s bad behaviour. Since then Anjali has been the only breadwinner in the family as she never let her mother work.

• She couldn’t continue her education due to financial strains and the responsibility of the family.

• Anjali Mamgai and Sahil Khan are in a relationship, despite previously denying it. They were often teased for dating each other on many shows, but they always denied the relationship. Their paths first crossed at a dance workshop in April 2017, even though they attended the same school in New Delhi, the reason being, that Anjali took morning classes and Sahil attended evening classes. • The Grand Finale of the show took place on 30 September 2023. Anjali got 10 extra points from the judges for her dance performance. These points could have made her win, but Samarpan Lama won the title because more people voted for him.

• Impressed with her dance performance and the way she took up the responsibility of her family, the judge of the reality TV show, India’s Best Dancer, Sonali Bendre, called her ‘Sher Bachcha.’ She tied a black thread on her anklet to save her from the evil eye and also fed her.

• On 4 May 2023, her performance on the iconic song ‘Aplam Chaplam’ from the film Azaad (1955) grabbed the attention of everyone present there. She dressed as Nargis and her choreographer as Raj Kapoor. They paid tribute to the golden age of Indian cinema with their dance. Impressed with the performance Sonali Bendre said,
  

  This was a very good act. Anjali, you have an old-world charm – you can be a black-and-white heroine. You have an old-world charm in your expressions and your dance is modern. This combination is very interesting! And Aryan I loved how you made this choreography so memorable for me.”

• On 4 May 2023, Anjali’s mother and sisters joined her on the stage. The proud mother recalled how after being thrown out of the house when Anjali was 13, she took it upon herself to become the breadwinner of her family.

• Aruna Irani, a veteran actress, who appeared in the show in an episode, appreciated Anjali and said,
  

  I see myself in Anjali, as even I started working at the age of 9 to support my family. That is sweet of her because these days not many people understand their responsibilities.
