  • Kuku Kohli began his film career as an assistant to filmmaker and actor Raj Kapoor, with whom he worked for 11 years. He also worked as an assistant director in Kapoor’s blockbuster film Bobby (1973).
  • He worked with director Rahul Rawail in two of his popular films, Betaab (1983) and Arjun (1985).
  • He married actress Aruna Irani in 1990, while still being married to his first wife, Rita Kohli.
  • His debut solo directorial Phool Aur Kaante (1991) introduced Ajay Devgn as a hero in Bollywood. The film was a huge box-office success.
