Controversies Case registered against Indra Kumar's directorial film Thank You (2022)
Reportedly, in 2022, a case was registered against director Indra Kumar and actors Ajay Devgn and Sidharth Malhotra at the Jaunpur Court, Uttar Pradesh, after a petition was filed by the lawyer Himanshu Sharma, alleging that the film hurt religious statements. The petitioner alleged that Ajay Devgn, who played the role of Chitragupta in the film, was seen cracking jokes and using objectionable language in one of the scenes. The petition read,
Chitragupta is regarded as the Lord of Karma and keeps a record of a man’s good and bad deeds. Such depiction of Gods can create an unpleasant situation since it hurts religious sentiments." [2]The Times of India."

Indra Kumar trolled for recreating Mungda song from the film Total Dhamaal (2019)
In 2019, Indra Kumar and music director Gourov-Roshin faced repercussions from the audience for recreating the song Mungda from the film Total Dhamaal. The original song Mungda from the Hindi film Inkaar (1977) was composed by Rajesh Roshan and sung by Lata Mangeshkar and her sister Usha Mangeshkar. Reportedly, the song was recreated without the consent of its original creators. In an interview, Indra Kumar responded to the allegations and said,
Lack of originality and talent in music is an understatement. We don’t have to take their consent. When ‘Neend Churayi Meri’ was remade no one came to me for approval. The rights belong to the music label, and they have the right to do what they want to.There is no harm in following trends. This generation has been deprived of those beautiful songs. Our job is to pass on the gems to them. Today’s generation isn’t aware of it. My kids hadn’t heard the original till I made them listen to the new version, and they loved it." [3]The Times of India
