Some Lesser Known Facts About Neha Marvya

• Neha Marvya hails from Uttar Pradesh.

• She holds a bachelor’s degree of Technology in Computer Science and Engineering from Motial Nehru National Institute of Technology, Allahabad.

• In 2010, she cleared the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) 2010 with an All India Rank of 100 and was allocated the Madhya Pradesh Cadre.

• After joining the IAS, she underwent her initial training at the Lal Bahadur Shastri National Academy of Administration (LBSNAA), Mussoorie. Her formal service began on 29 August 2011.

• Neha’s first assignment was as Assistant Collector in Betul, Madhya Pradesh in 2012.

• In 2013, she was appointed as Sub Divisional Officer (SDO) in Bhopal, followed by a short posting as SDO in Ashok Nagar.

• In 2014, Neha Marvya was posted as SDO in Jabalpur. During the 2014 Lok Sabha election, she took action against a campaign vehicle associated with Congress leader Jyotiraditya Scindia for election-rule violations.

• In 2015, she became CEO of the Jabalpur Zila Panchayat. She spent nearly three years in this position.

• In 2018, Neha was moved to the Personnel and General Administrative Department of Madhya Pradesh as Deputy Secretary/Under Secretary. Later she served as a Special Officer in the same broad administrative setup for a short time.

• In 2019, she served as the Deputy Secretary in the Panchayat and Rural Development Department. This was her one of the longest postings of her career that lasted around three years and four months.

• In 2022, she moved to the Revenue Department as Deputy Secretary.

• During her Revenue Department posting, Neha reportedly alleged that she was not allowed to take charge of a posting by a senior official.

• In 2023, she completed the 19th round of the Phase-III Mid-Career Training Program for IAS officers.

• In Late 2024, after more than 13 years in the IAS without having served as a district Collector, she publicly expressed frustration about the lack of a proper field posting. According to some reports once she wrote that she had been without meaningful work for months and had spent much of her career in Secretariat-level assignments.

• In January 2025, Neha was appointed as the Collector of Dindori by the Madhya Pradesh Government. Her appointment came roughly after 14 years after she entered the IAS and became one of the most talked-about aspects of her career.

• While serving as Dindori Collector, she became involved in a controversy over entry of journalists into the Collectorate. An order initially required journalists to obtain permission before entering the premises. After the criticism, the order was modified to allow entry in special circumstances with the Collector’s permission.

• In September 2025, after around 8 months she was moved out of the Dindori Collector’s post and was given the tribal/nomadic and semi-tribal nomadic tribe welfare responsibilities in Bhopal.

• Late 2025 she served as Director, Denotified, Nomadic and Semi-Nomadic Tribe Welfare, Bhopal.

• In May 2026, Neha was transferred from Tribal Affairs Department of Bhopal and appointed as Secretary in the Tribal Affairs Department, Government of Madhya Pradesh.

• She was also given the responsibility as Director of the Tribal Area Development Project; however, her tenure in the both the assignments were very short.

• In September 2026, just after 50 days after she had taken charge if the Tribal Area Development Project, she was transferred to the post of Managing Director of the Madhya Pradesh Scheduled Tribe Finance and Development Corporation

• Neha came into news after being transferred for the fourth time within one year. Her transfer became controversial after some employees of Madhya Pradesh Scheduled Tribe Finance and Development Corporation reportedly held a pen-down protest against her.

• According to Neha, this happened after she issued notices asking some staff members to explain their actions. She alleged that some employees had misbehaved, delayed files purposely and threatened her that she would be transferred.

• Neha also wrote a message to the IAS association on WhatsApp, in which Neha said that she felt demotivated and humiliated by another transfer. She also questioned how an officer could properly understand a department and do good work when they are transferred after only two or three months. In the message she wrote,

I am deeply disturbed to see the transfer list dated September 5, 2026, which once again includes my name. I have been transferred within just 50 days of assuming office. This is the fourth time in a year that my name has appeared on the transfer list.”
