• Pavan Malhotra is an Indian actor, who is known for his work in Hindi, Punjabi, and Telugu films. He has also worked in several Hindi television series.

• His ancestors are from Lahore but after the partition, his parents migrated to Delhi from Lahore.

• He started his career in the entertainment industry as a theatre artist. He joined a theatre group named ‘Ruchika’ soon after completing school education. Feisal Alkazi, son of popular Indian theatre director Ebrahim Alkazi, was also associated with the theatre group.

• Malhotra’s first play was titled ‘Tughlak’ for which he used to get a daily Rs 350.

• His performance as an older man in the Hindi play ‘Father’ was highly praised by the audience.

• In an interview, he revealed that his father wanted him to continue with the family business, so he quit doing theatre after completing college.

• Apart from acting in theatres, he has also done odd jobs like selling bread and feeding cows in a cowshed to earn a livelihood.

• Some other Telugu films done by Pavan Malhotra include ‘Anukokunda Oka Roju’ (2005), ‘Andhrudu’ (2005), and ‘Amma Cheppindi’ (2006).

• He appeared in the multi-lingual film ’72 Hoorain’ in which he played the role of Militant Hakim Ali. Initially, the film was released at the 50th International Film Festival of India in 2019. The film made its theatrical release on 7 July 2023.

• The film was criticized before its theatrical release for offending religious beliefs and sparking communal disharmony. In response, Pavan Malhotra came to the defence of the film and said that people were comparing ’72 Hoorain’ with films like ‘The Kashmir Files’ (2022) and ‘The Kerala Story’ (2023). He said that the film had already been screened at various film festivals and received a national award. • He played the titular role in the Punjabi film ‘Fouja’ (2023). The film was also released in Hindi and Haryanvi language.

• Some of his other Punjabi films include ‘Zorawar’ (2016), ‘Super Singh’ (2017), ‘Jhalle’ (2019), and ‘Ik Sandhu Hunda Si’ (2020).

• His performance as Omkar Singh in the Hindi web series ‘Tabbar’ (2021) gained huge appreciation from the audience and critics. The series was streamed on the OTT platform SonyLIV.
