- When Vinay Pathak was in class 11 he changed his school. There, he was bullied by his classmates for his fair skin.
- He had a crush on the Indian actress Padmini Kolhapure in childhood.
- In an interview, he shared that during his college days, he used to bunk classes to watch films in nearby theatres.
- After completing a two-year BA course, he moved to the US to pursue an MBA. However, he came to know that the BA course there was for four years. So, he completed 2 years of BA there and dropped the idea of pursuing an MBA.
- It was only after watching the British play Equus that he developed an interest in theatre plays.
- He developed a habit of chewing paan while he was studying at St Columbus School. When he moved to the US, he did not find any shops of paan there, and gradually, he got rid of this habit.
- In his teens, he wanted to become a teacher. He once said that by taking acting workshops, he lived his dream of becoming a teacher.
