- His father worked in SBI and was posted in many areas. Abhishek spent his childhood in many different cities mainly in Jamshedpur, Patna and Ranchi.
- In 1993, he completed his 10th class from St. Xavier’s School in Ranchi. He then went to Hyderabad for higher education.
- After completing his graduation from Delhi, he moved to Mumbai. He did a course in Film and Television Production from the Xavier Institute of Communications in Mumbai.
- He began his career as a co-writer and assistant director to Vishal Bhardwaj in the movie Makdee in 2002.
- He co-wrote the trendsetting film of 2006, Omkara. He also co-wrote Vishal Bhardwaj’s movie Kaminey.
