- Kavita Krishnamurthy is a popular Bollywood singer.
- She was born in New Delhi in a Tamil Iyer family.
- Her aunt, Protimma Bhattacharya, insisted her, to get training in music, and Suruma Basu trained her in ‘Rabindra Sangeet’. She further got training in classical music from Balram Puri.
- At the age of 14, she moved to Bombay to try her luck in Bollywood.
- When she was in college, she got the opportunity to sing in the Bengali movie ‘Shriman Prithviraj’ with Lata Mangeshkar as co-singer and Hemant Kumar as a music composer.
- She lent her voice for the movie ‘Maang Bharo Sajana (1980),’ but it was deleted from the movie in the final cut.
- In 1985, she gave the hit song ‘Tumse Milkar Na Jaane Kyon’ (Pyaar Jhukta Nahin).
- The turning point of her career came when she sang for the movie ‘Mr. India (1986)’.
