In 2009, he won he Best Film of The Year for ‘Jodha Akbar’ by Screen Awards. While he was on the stage to receive the award, the Indian film director Sajid Khan (host of the event) cracked some joke about him after which Ashutosh got very upset. Then, Sajid tried to calm him, but Ashutosh asked him to shut up. Later, Sajid's sister Farah Khan came on the stage and said that no one could tell them to shut up.
