Some Lesser Known Facts About Abhishek Chaubey

His father worked in SBI and was posted in many areas. Abhishek spent his childhood in many different cities mainly in Jamshedpur, Patna and Ranchi.

In 1993, he completed his 10th class from St. Xavier’s School in Ranchi. He then went to Hyderabad for higher education.

After completing his graduation from Delhi, he moved to Mumbai. He did a course in Film and Television Production from the Xavier Institute of Communications in Mumbai.

He began his career as a co-writer and assistant director to Vishal Bhardwaj in the movie Makdee in 2002.

He co-wrote the trendsetting film of 2006, Omkara. He also co-wrote Vishal Bhardwaj’s movie Kaminey.

In 2010, he debuted as a film director with the movie Ishqiya; starring Naseeruddin Shah, Vidya Balan and Arshad Warsi.

His second film, Dedh Ishqiya was the sequel to his first film Ishqiya. The movie starred Madhuri Dixit, Naseeruddin Shah, Arshad Warsi, Huma Qureshi and Vijay Raaz. The film got rave reviews from the critics.

In 2016, his movie Udta Punjab was a big hit. The movie revolved around the drug problems in the state of Punjab. The movie starred Shahid Kapoor, Diljit Dosanjh, Kareena Kapoor and Alia Bhatt.

In 2016, he also produced Konkona Sen Sharma‘s directorial debut “A Death in the Gunj.”

In June 2018, it was revealed that he would be directing a crime web series with Junglee Pictures.

He is working on his new movie, Sonchiriya which is slated to release in February 2019. The film is starring Sushant Singh Rajput, Bhumi Pednekar, Manoj Bajpayee, Ranvir Shorey and Ashutosh Rana.
