After completing graduation, he thought of pursuing an MBA. However, to pursue his acting career, he dropped the plan.

He did his acting training at Anupam Kher’s Acting School.

He made a blink-and-miss appearance in the 1995 Hindi film ‘Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge.’ In the film, the black leathered jacket worn by Shah Rukh Khan was of Uday Chopra which he had bought from from a store in California worth $400. He also worked as an assistant director in the film.

He started his career as an assistant director with his father. He assisted him in various Hindi films like ‘Lamhe’ (1991), ‘Parampara’ (1993), ‘Darr’ (1993), and ‘Dil To Pagal Hai’ (1997).
