  • From 1995 to 1997, Rakesh Dubey worked as a labourer in different oil mills in his hometown in Madhya Pradesh.
  • As he disliked working as a labourer, Rakesh Dubey sold four bighas of his ancestral land in his village and bought a truck and began driving it. However, he suffered losses in it and sold the truck.
  • After a few years, he shifted from Madhya Pradesh to Gujarat and began living in Ahmedabad, where he worked in a private mill.
  • During this time, Rakesh Dubey met a saint and decided to pursue a religious life. He changed his name from Rakesh Dubey to Vairagyanand Giri.
  • As a saint, he began using chilli smoke to solve the problems of his devotees, who then started calling him Mirchi Baba.

  • Mirchi Baba then began performing Bhagwat lessons in the Bhind, Morena, and Gwalior districts of Madhya Pradesh, which increased his popularity.
  • After gaining popularity, he developed connections with many noted Congress leaders, including former Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh Digvijaya Singh, who later helped him get a bungalow in Minal Residency in Bhopal.

  • During the same time, Mirchi Baba promised to take Jal Samadhi if Digvijaya Singh lost, which he did, but Mirchi Baba continued his activities.
