Gote was held in custody at the Yerwada Central Jail in Pune. Investigations revealed Gote's close relationship with Telgi, dating back to the early 1990s. Gote had even made Telgi a trustee in his public trust called Kisan Trust. There were allegations that Gote and Telgi had once travelled together to New Delhi on the same flight and spent a few days in a hotel. [8]Hindustan Times Allegations of Corruption In August 2017, Anil Gote accused several bureaucrats and BJP politicians in Maharashtra of purchasing lands in areas where government projects were announced. He alleged that these individuals were buying lands with the intention of making significant profits by selling them back to the government at a higher price later on. [10]The Times of India Demand to scrap Maharashtra Legislative Assembly In March 2017, during a session in the Maharashtra Legislative Assembly, Anil Gote called for dissolving the Maharashtra Legislative Council, arguing that it lacked constitutional legitimacy. [14]Business Standard [15]The Asian Age Varsha Night Club Gang In December 2019, Anil Gote accused the former Maharashtra Chief Minister, Devendra Fadnavis, of planning to weaken local mass leaders within the BJP. Gote alleged that the BJP's defeat in the 2019 legislative elections was a result of a group he referred to as the 'Varsha Night Club Gang,' which was a reference to the meetings held at Fadnavis' official residence, known as 'Varsha' and said, "Fadnavis sidelined mass leaders like Eknath Khadse, Pankaja Munde, Prakash Mehta, Raj Purohit and others and promoted the coterie of Girish Mahajan, Jaykumar Rawal, Prasad Lad, Pravin Darekar, Ram Kadam and others, who would meet at 'Varsha' after 10 pm everyday and conspire to strengthen the local opponents of the mass leaders.
