  • Lilliput had a passion for acting since he was a child. He used to participate in stage plays in his school and college days.
  • After completing his graduation in Gaya, he moved to Mumbai after one of his friends named Ashok Narayan convinced him to try his luck in the film industry.
  • After shifting to Mumbai, he started working as an actor and writer for theatre plays.
  • He once remained hungry for 14 days during his struggle days in Mumbai.
  • In an interview, he revealed that once he was featured in the newspaper for his performance in a stage play. In that article his name was wrongly mentioned as ‘Kumari Baha Faruqui,’ which was a female name. At that time, he decided that if he ever join the film industry, he would change his name to ‘Lilliput.’
  • He adopted the name ‘Lilliput’ from Jonathan Swift’s novel Gulliver’s Travels in which ‘Lilliput’ is an island inhabited by dwarf people.
  • He gained immense popularity as a theatre artist in 1979, after he acted in the play “Ek Tha Gadha Urf Aladad Khan.”
  • After making his Bollywood debut with the film ‘Romance’ (1983), he acted in the film ‘Grahasthi’ (1984) in which he played the role of a waiter.

  • He acted alongside Ratna Pathak and Supriya Pathak in his debut television series ‘Idhar Udhar’ (1985-1998). He also worked as a scriptwriter for the television series.
  • He has played several characters in the television series ‘Vikram Aur Betaal’ (1985-1986), which aired on Doordarshan.

  • He has acted in various Hindi television series such as ‘Aavishkar – Ek Rakshak’ (2003) on Shahara Manoranjan, ‘Shararat’ (2003) on StarPlus, ‘Shaurya Aur Suhani’ (2009) on StarPlus, ‘Gutur Gu 2’ (2013) on SAB TV, and ‘Vidya’ (2019) on Colors TV.

  • In 1998, he appeared as a servant in the Govinda starrer film ‘Aunty No. 1.’
  • Lilliput played the main antagonist Vikram / Woh in the horror thriller TV series ‘Woh’ (1998), which was broadcasted on Zee TV. It is a Hindi adaptation of Stephen King’s epic horror novel “It.”

  • He has acted in several Hindi films including ‘Saagar’ (1985), ‘Hukumat’ (1987), ‘Shatranj’ (1993), ‘Bunty Aur Babli’ (2005), ‘Enemmy’ (2013), and ‘Acting Ka Bhoot’ (2023).
  • In 2017, there were rumours that he was under debut and forced to live off with his elder daughter. However, he later denied those rumours.
  • In 2020, he played the role of Devdatt Tyagi in the action crime thriller web series ‘Mirzapur,’ which streamed on Amazon Prime Video.

  • Once Subhash Ghai offered him a role of villain against Amitabh Bachchan in the film ‘Sherbahadur;’ however, the film later shelved. Then, he was offered another film with Bachchan named ‘Aashiyana,’ which was also cancelled.
  • Later, when Shaad Ali offered him to work with Amitabh Bachchan in the film ‘Bunty Aur Babli,’ scarred by past experiences, he said,
