• He is a prominent figure in the Indian music industry.

• Before starting his career as a song lyricist, he used to work as a librarian in Delhi.

• He met an accident when he was young, due to which he lost his one leg.

• His favorite song that he wrote was Ek Pyaar Ka Nagma Hai for the film Shor (1972). The song was produced by Lakshmikant Pyarelal and sung by Lata Mangeshkar and Mukesh Chand Mathur.

• In 1981, he wrote the songs for the film Kranti. The songs were loved by the audience and the film was the most successful film of that year.

• In his whole career he wrote more than 109 songs for 26 films. He has written songs in the films for many actors including Bollywood veterans Raj Kapoor, Rishi Kapoor, and Manoj Kumar. His songs were sung by some of the most prominent Indian singers like Lata Mangeshkar, Mohammad Aziz, Mahendra Kapoor, Kumar Sanu and Kavita Krishnamurthy.

• Santosh Anand’s son Sankalp Anand committed suicide along with his wife Nandini Anand. They reportedly jumped in front of a moving train on the morning of 15 October 2014.
