  • Vijay Rawat is a former Army Colonel of India. He is best known for being the younger brother of late CDS of India Bipin Rawat. On 19 January 2022, he came into the limelight when he joined the Bharatiya Janata Party after meeting the Chief Minister of Uttarakhand. In a press conference organised by the Bharatiya Janata Party, Vijay Rawat said that he was thankful that he received the chance to serve the people of Uttarakhand after joining BJP. He further added that his father was a member of the Bharatiya Janata Party after his retirement. He said,

    I am grateful to have been given the opportunity to join BJP. My father was with BJP after retiring and now I have gotten a chance. PM Modi’s vision and thinking are very wise and futuristic. PM Modi thinks out of the box and all his efforts are directed towards the country’s betterment.”

  • On 19 January 2022, Vijay Rawat joined the Bharatiya Janata Party. Soon after meeting the Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, Vijay Rawat stated while addressing a press conference that the views of Uttarakhand CM and his late brother Bipin Rawat were similar, and it focussed on the welfare of the local people of the state. He said,

    I like the Uttarakhand CM’s vision for the state. It matches what my brother had in his mind. BJP has the same mindset.”

  • For three generations, Vijay Rawat’s family has been joining the Indian army and serving the country. Vijay Rawat belongs to the Pauri town of Uttarakhand in India. In 1988, Vijay Rawat’s father retired as a Lieutenant General of the Indian Army Staff and was commissioned into 11 Gorkha Rifles in 1951. His mother was the daughter of the ex-Member of the Legislative Assembly (MLA) from Uttarkashi, Kishan Singh Parmar.
