ControversyAccused by Ameesha Patel of mismanagement
In 2023, actress Ameesha Patel accused Anil Sharma Productions of 'mismanagement' on the 'Gadar 2' set. She took to Twitter and said that the technicians like makeup artists, costume designers, and others were not paid the dues by his production. After her statements, Anil in an interview thanked her for making his production house famous and said,
I have no clue why she said all of this. All I would like to say is that this is all false, none of it is true. At the same time, I would like to thank Ameesha Patel. She made my production house famous. What can be bigger than this? I thank her for making our new production house famous."
A month later, Ameesha claimed that she shared a father-daughter relationship with Anil. [1]The Times of India

Some Lesser Known Facts About Anil Sharma

  • Anil Sharma is an Indian director and producer who is known for directing the famous Bollywood films Gadar: Ek Prem Katha (2001) and Apne (2007).
  • Anil’s grandfather, whom he affectionately called Baba, was a renowned fortune-teller. During that era, several film stars, such as Geeta Dutt, KN Singh, and Tuntun were his followers. They would seek his advice and offer their assistance (seva).
  • As a child, he would often see large crowds gathering outside his house, and he used to wonder who these people were. Seeing these crowds whenever those people visited, he made up his mind to pursue a career in film.
  • When he was five years old, he accompanied his grandfather to a wedding in Meerut. They stayed in Dharamshala and close to it was a cinema hall. Sometime before the wedding, he asked his grandfather to take him there. They watched the film “Ganga Ki Lehrein” for just 10 minutes.
  • When he grew up and went to Mumbai and presented his debut script as a director to a producer, he found out that he was also the producer of “Ganga Ki Lehrein.” He shared the Meerut story with him and inquired about the actor playing the hero. To my astonishment, he revealed it was Dharmendra. So, Dharmendra happened to be the first hero he ever saw in his life.
