• Nancy Tyagi used to stitch clothes for her dolls in her childhood.

• She grew up at her maternal uncle’s house in a village in Saharanpur, Uttar Pradesh, as her father was not supportive. She studied till 10th standard there.

• She later returned to her parent’s home in Merrut, where she completed her 11th and 12th standard.

• After completing her class 12, Nancy moved to Delhi to attend the UPSC coaching classes.

• Nancy studied in Hindi-medium schools, while her brother studied in English-medium schools.

• She had Rs 2.5 lakh with her for the fees of her coaching class. She paid some amount as fees there and with the rest of the money, she bought a camera, lights, and a mobile phone.

• Her brother skipped a year of his studies so that Nancy could buy a camera and other equipment to make videos on YouTube.

• Her mother lost her job in 2020 due to the Coronavirus pandemic, and her father refused to support her financially. She then thought of supporting her mother financially.

• In 2021, she started her YouTube channel on which she uploaded her outfit-making videos. As of 2024, she has more than one million subscribers on her channel.

• Gradually, she started gaining thousands of views on her reels.

• She did not learn stitching from anyone. She used to watch YouTube videos to learn the basics of stitching.

• Initially, she did not have money to buy fabrics, so she reused her mother’s clothes to make dresses.

• She once shared that she mostly buys fabric from Shanti Mohalla, Seelampur, Shahdara, Delhi to create her outfits.

• In 2024, she walked the Cannes Film Festival red carpet. At the event, she wore self-stitched gowns which received appreciation from various celebrities.

• During her interview at Cannes, she shared that for her pink ruffle gown, it took a month to create her outfit with 100m of fabric, weighing more than 20 kg. This was her original creation; she had only replicated designs before this gown.

• She had received the offer to Visit the Cannes Film Festival four months earlier, and she spent two months thinking about the design and colour of her outfit. In the remaining two months, she designed four outfits for Cannes.

• Nancy credits her brother for the design and colour ideas for the four outfits that she created for Cannes.

• In an interview, she revealed that she wanted to design a bigger outfit for Cannes just to catch the eyes of the media.

• After her Cannes appearance, Bollywood actor Sonam Kapoor took to Instagram to praise Nancy and her work. Sonam Kapoor also requested that she design an outfit for her. Many more Bollywood celebrities including Arjun Kapoor and Rhea Kapoor also messaged her to praise her work.

• Nancy is a big fan of Bollywood actor Shah Rukh Khan, and she wants to design coat pants for him.

• According to Nancy before her Cannes outing, she never went anywhere alone as her brother or mother would always accompany her.

• In an interview, Nancy revealed that she always wanted to make her mother quit her factory job as it was dangerous working there. Her mother earned a monthly salary of Rs. 6,000.
