He also alleged that protesters were a threat to the female citizens of Delhi. He said, "Lakhs of people gather there (Shaheen Bagh). They will enter your houses, rape your sisters and daughters, kill them. There's time today, Prime Minister Narendra Modi ji and Amit Shah won't come to save you tomorrow." He also claimed that they would remove all the illegal mosques from Delhi within one month of coming into power. Several people protested his remarks, claiming he was Islamophobic. The Election Commission of India (ECI) also ordered his removal from the BJP's stars campaigners with immediate effect and barred him from campaigning for 4 days. The next day, on 29 January 2020, he claimed he received 2 death threat calls and filed a complaint at the Barakhamba police station. VHP and other Hindu organizations arranged a meeting to protest the killing. Speaking at the event, Parvesh Verma called for the total boycott of Muslim vendors and shopkeepers. He said, "Mai kehta hu agar inka dimag theek karna hai, inki tabiyat theek karni hai, to ek hi ilaaj hai. Aur wo hai sampurna bahishkar (I say that if you want to teach them a lesson, total boycott is the only way out).” Many people criticized him for making such comments at a public program.
