  • Sahil Khattar was born and brought up in Chandigarh, India. He is a sports enthusiast since childhood. Sahil represented India at the Asian Games Roller Hockey event and won a Bronze Medal in the same.

  • Soon after completing his formal education, Sahil Khattar, in 2007, started working as a radio jockey for Radio Mirchi 98.3 FM, a popular radio station of Chandigarh. He hosted a show called “Love Guru.”
  • Sahil Khattar, in 2011, moved to Mumbai to pursue her dream of becoming an actor. He tried his best and managed to conscience his parents who wanted him to settle down in their city and join their family business. Sahil lied to his parents by saying that he was going for a reality show and will be back in just a month.

  • Sahil Khattar made his first television appearance on a comedy dating show named “Date Trap” which aired on UTV Bindass in 2011. He acted in multiple episodes of the show playing a variety of characters. Later, he appeared in StarPlus’ comedy reality ‘Comedy Ka Maha Muqabala.’ He, along with Rehman Khan, Rashami Desai, and Sunil Grover, became a member of Arshad Warsi‘s team named ‘Arshad Ke Punters.’

    It gave me a second lifeline to my career. There was a time in between when I had no work at hand. Things changed after ‘Being Indian’ came into my life, and I have never looked back since then and I never intend to as well. We started it hoping this would work and it did. We created that market when YouTube didn’t even exist.”

    He further added,

    Thank God, that I stepped outside and opened up my own YouTube channel in between and I started getting many deals. There is no big proof about my talent apart from ‘Being Indian’. It is an honour and pleasure to be associated with it.”

  • Sahil Khattar was on a contract with Culture Machine for their YouTube channel ‘Being Indian’ and was supposed to work on scripts which made him feel restricted, therefore he started his own YouTube channel named “Khattarnaak.” While talking about his decision to simultaneously work for his own YouTube channel, he said,

  • Sahil Khattar began his acting career in 2021 with the crime thriller film ‘200 Halla Ho,’ directed by Sarthak Dasgupta and Alok Batra. The directors narrated a real-life incident that happened in 2004 in which 200 Dalit women came together to file a legal complaint against Akku Yadav, a gangster, robber, serial rapist, and killer. Sahil played the character of ‘Bali Choudhary’ in the film opposite Amol Palekar, Barun Sobti, Ishtiyak Khan, Upendra Limaye, Rinku Rajguru, and received huge critical acclaim. The film was digitally released on the OTT platform, ZEE5, on 20 August 2021.

  • Apparently, Sahil Khattar was selected for playing the role of Syed Kirmani because of his great resemblance to him. According to him, he never auditioned for the role but did take acting lessons after his selection. During the media interaction, he said,

    The good part was I never auditioned for the role. It was given to me after looking at my face. I look like a twin brother of Syed Kirmani. So when the film came to me, I was actually in a good state of mind where I could recognize the potential of this film.”

  • Apart from doing comedy shows on television, Sahil Khattar has also hosted a number of reality shows. In 2007, he became the host for the sixth season of the Indian dance reality show “Dance India Dance.” The show was co-hosted by Sahil Khattar and Amruta Khanvilkar, and had Mudassar KhanMarzi Pestonji, and Mini Pradhan as the judges. Next, Sahil Khattar became host to StarPlus’ singing competition series ‘India’s Raw Star’ followed by Colors TV’s reality show ‘India’s Got Talent.’

  • According, Sahil Khattar, actress Priyanka Chopra helped him in the tough times of his career. She offered him to write dialogues for her upcoming events, which eventually earned him opportunities to write dialogues for Bollywood superstars like Shah Rukh Khan and Salman Khan. Narrating the incident, he said,

    I had no work in 2014, and I had to make ends meet while staying in Mumbai. Agar aapko Mumbai mein survive karna aa gaya na, toh aapki tarakki ho sakti hai. I got the show India’s Raw Star, where once Priyanka Chopra came to promote her film Mary Kom. From there, she picked me for her event. Then I got India’s Got Talent. Through Priyanka only I went on to write for events.”

  • In 2021, Sahil Khattar became the co-owner of the YouTube channel ‘Being Indian,’ which was initially owned by the Digital Media company, Culture Machine, and was later sold to some other company. Sahil hugely credits his success to his YouTube channel  ‘Being Indian.’ Talking about which he said,

    Ours and one or two other channels were also there who are like granddaddies of the creators on YouTube. We used to work hard, even for non-branded videos. Now, I can safely say that without ‘Being Indian’, I would not have had a career right now and the success and fame that I am enjoying.”

    He further added,

    Earlier ‘Being Indian’ used to run on sketch and non-fiction but now we are going to do long-form content as well. So, we are going to stream web series, sketches, skits, and street interviews. I am happy that things are under my control and I am going to figure out what the programming would be. We would do live shows like Saturday Night, a lot of talk shows, sketch comedy, reaction videos as well as blogs along with FIFA screening as well.”

    I will describe my journey in just two words: hard work, and hustle. Many people have talent, but hard work and hustle are very important.
