Some Lesser Known Facts About Shahrukh Khan

• His parents named him after a famous Bollywood actor, Shah Rukh Khan. That’s because his mom’s cousins were big fans of the actor. Shahrukh says,
  

  My mother’s cousins were huge fans and they practically forced my parents to name me after him.” ^[3]The Hindu

• Shahrukh Khan started his journey playing tennis ball cricket. He later attended St. Bede’s Academy, which is known for producing cricketers like Dinesh Karthik, Ravichandran Ashwin, and Krishnamachari Srikkanth.

• His father, Masood Khan, played cricket in Chennai’s second division league.

• After getting trained at the SDAT Academy and Kedar CA in Chennai, Shahrukh started playing for Tamil Nadu in age-group cricket.

• When he turned 13, he started playing league cricket.

• While playing for Tamil Nadu, Shahrukh made his First Class debut on 6 December 2018 in the 2018–19 Ranji Trophy. Sharath T N, former Tamil Nadu selector while talking about him in an interview said-:
  

  We picked him purely on his natural ability in the 2014-15 season. Back then, the TN team was filled with superstars in their prime — Dinesh Karthik, Murali Vijay, Abhinav Mukund, Subramanian Badrinath. So, he didn’t have a ready-made spot open. • In 2019, he led Hindustan College in Red Bull Campus Cricket and was awarded the ‘Player of the Tournament.’

• While Shahrukh was playing at Red Bull Campus Cricket in 2019, scouts from Rajasthan Royals noticed him. They chose him for a trial with the team in Nagpur, but he was later picked by KL Rahul’s Punjab team.

• In 2021, he became the captain of the Lyca Kovai Kings for the 2021 Tamil Nadu Premier League.

He had also given a trial for Mumbai Indian but couldn’t make it in the final cut due to his injured finger. However; he created a lot of buzz in the 2021 IPL auction after being bought by Punjab Kings for Rs. 5.25 crore.
