  • Suhani Pittie is an Indian jewellery designer. In 2007, she became the first Indian jewellery designer to be selected to exhibit her collection at the Miami Fashion Week.
  • Suhani was more inclined towards sports in childhood. In an interview, she revealed that when she was a child, she used to play football in the streets.
  • In her school days, she was a brilliant student and used to participate in extracurricular activities. She was the head girl of her school and was also the head of the interact club of her school.
  • At the age of 19, she started teaching at a gemology school, and a year later, she opened her own training institute and started teaching the grading of diamonds and coloured stones.
  • Following her marriage in 2004, Pittie moved to Hyderabad and started her design firm, “Suhani Pittie.”
  • In the same year, she participated in Bridal Asia and launched her silver jewellery collection and her own jewellery brand, Zorya.
  • In 2008, the New York City’s Museum of Arts and Design commissioned her work. In the same year, her collection “Marshes & Marigold” was presented at WLIFW SS.
  • Pittie got the chance to present her collection to the Royal families of Britain and Jodhpur at the Bal Samand Lake Palace, Jodhpur in 2009.

  • In 2012, her collection “Child of Eden” was exhibited at Lakme Fashion Week Summer-Resort. For this collection, she took inspiration from the innocence of childhood.
  • Swarovski commissioned Suhani Pittie for design on the celebration of its 10th anniversary, which was held at the Austrian Embassy in India.
  • Travel and lifestyle channel TLC has selected her work to be presented at their show “Oh My Gold.” She was also selected as a co-host along with Lisa Ray for their episode in Hyderabad.
  • Suhani Pittie has collaborated with many popular brands such as Nykaa, Myntra, Jaypore, Taj group, and Swarovski for her projects.
  • She has worked with the renowned Indian painter Thota Vaikuntam, and designer Anamika Khanna for some projects.
  • In an interview, Suhani Pittie talked about how she found her interest in designing jewellery and later decided to pursue a career in it. Sharing a childhood memory in the interview, she said,

    When I was in class VII, I went to the library and saw a bee embedded in an amber stone. My curiosity knew no bounds and I ran to my teacher who explained the whole process to me wherein I understood that it was a natural process. That’s it…I wanted to explore this exciting arena. At that moment it became my die hard ambition to launch a Gemological Institute in India as I realised that out here people were completely ignorant about this subject.”

  • Suhani Pittie is known for her unique style of combining western minimalistic forms with traditional frames to make her designs. The common things that she uses in her designs include gems, jute, buttons, and crystals or pearls. In an interview, she talked about her unique style of designing, and said,

    I like to use a combination of vintage and modern. I connect with things which are Indian and then try to make them contemporary. I like to use a lot of experimental materials which make this possible.” [1]The Economic Times

  • Her jewellery designs mainly feature elegant leaves, entwining vines, roses, peacocks, and the beak of the Hornbill.
  • In an interview, she revealed that at the beginning of her career, she faced many difficulties to find the right worker for her work. She said,

    When I started three years ago, the biggest challenge I had to overcome was to find the right karigars who had an open mind and were ready to listen to what I was saying. This was no easy task as all over our country karigars are used to doing the traditional gold, the oxidized silver or the wax casts. I fit in none of the above. So it was a lot of trial and error. But now I am very happy with my team!”

  • In an interview, Suhani Pittie talked about the experimental designs that she made using old and antique things. She said that she has used a miniature grandfather clock as a pendant, traditional anklets as stands for bowls, wearing her Zara shirts with 100 years old lehngas, and antique nose-pins as hair clips.
