1. ‘Enthiran’ dubbed in Hindi as ‘Robot’

Enthiran (2010) is an Indian Tamil-language science fiction film directed by S. Shankar. The film stars Rajinikanth and Aishwarya Rai in lead roles and Danny Denzongpa, Santhanam and Karunas play supporting roles. The film was a super hit and dubbed in Hindi as ‘Robot’.

Plot: An android constructed by a scientist falls in love with the bride-to-be of his creator.

2. ‘Lingaa’ dubbed in Hindi as ‘Lingaa’

Lingaa (2014) is an Indian Tamil-language action film written and directed by K.S. Ravikumar. The film stars Rajinikanth, Anushka Shetty, and Sonakshi Sinha in the lead roles while Santhanam, Jagapati Babu and Karunakaran essay supporting roles. The film didn’t work well at the box-office and dubbed in Hindi with the same name ‘Lingaa’.

Plot: A small-time thief reforms after learning about the role played by his grandfather in building a dam.

3. ‘Sri Raghavendra’ dubbed in Hindi as ‘Shree Krishna Bhakt Raghavendra’

Sri Raghavendra (1985) is a Tamil drama film directed by SP. Muthuraman. The film stars Rajinikanth portraying the title character (in his 100th film), with Lakshmi, Vishnuvardhan, Sathyaraj, Delhi Ganesh and Nizhalgal Ravi portraying supporting roles. The film was a flop and dubbed in Hindi as ‘Shree Krishna Bhakt Raghavendra’.

Plot: This film is the life of Sri Raghavendra. From Birth till his Mahasamadhi has been portrayed by Rajinikanth. The film highlights some of the miracles Sri Raghavendra performed.

4. ‘Kuselan’ dubbed in Hindi as ‘Chennai King’

Kuselan (2008) is an Indian Tamil language drama film directed by P. Vasu. It stars Pasupathy and Meena in lead roles. Rajinikanth plays an extended cameo role. The movie was a flop and dubbed in Hindi as ‘Chennai King’.

Plot: Kuselan revolves around the tale of a beautiful friendship between a popular actor and a poor barber.

5. ‘Sahodarara Savaal’ dubbed in Hindi as ‘Diller’

Sahodarara Savaal (1977) is an Indian action-drama- romance Kannada language film directed by K. S. R. Das. It stars Vishnuvardhan and Rajinikanth in lead roles. It received good reviews from the audience was dubbed into Hindi as ‘Diller’.

Plot: Two sons of a dying poor woman get separated, they meet when they grow up, but they dislike each other.

6. ‘Thillu Mullu’ dubbed in Hindi as ‘Dhogee’  

Thillu Mullu (1981) is an Indian Tamil-language comedy film directed by K. Balachander. The film features Rajinikanth, Madhavi and Thengai Srinivasan in the lead roles while Poornam Vishwanathan, Viji Chandrasekhar, and Sowkar Janaki play supporting roles. The film became successful at the box office and dubbed in Hindi as ‘Dhogee’.

Plot: The film is about Chandran who is advised by his family friend to attend the job at a company of his friend Sriramachandramoorthy. Chandran pretends to be a cultured, well-mannered and patriotic person which impresses Sriramachandramoorthy. When Sriramachandramoorthy spots Chandran at a football match. Chandran fakes a story that he has a twin brother Indran without a mustache. What happens then forms the story.

Bhagya Debata (1995) is a Bengali-language drama film directed by Raghuram, starring Mithun Chakraborty, Soham Chakraborty, Soumitra Chatterjee, Mamta Kulkarni, Rituparna Sengupta and Puneet Issar. 11. ‘Guru Sishyan’ dubbed in Hindi as ‘Zulm Ka Badsha’

Guru Sishyan (1988) is an Indian Tamil-language action comedy film directed by S. P. Muthuraman. The film stars Rajinikanth, Prabhu, Gautami Tadimalla and Seetha playing the lead roles with Radha Ravi, Vinu Chakravarthy and Manorama playing supporting roles. 14. ‘Chandramukhi’ dubbed in Hindi as ‘Chandramukhi’

Chandramukhi (2005) is an Indian Tamil-language comedy horror film written and directed by P. Vasu. The film features Rajinikanth, Prabhu, Jyothika, and Nayantara leading an ensemble cast that includes Vadivelu, Nassar, Sheela, Vijayakumar, Vinaya Prasad, Sonu Sood, Vineeth, Malavika and K. R. Plot: Annamalai, a milkman, and Ashok, the son of a rich businessman, are childhood friends. Ashok’s father, who disapproves of their friendship, attempts to create a rift between the two.

Dharma Yuddham (1979) is an action-romance Tamil film directed by R. C. Sakthi. It stars Rajinikanth and Sridevi in the lead roles. The film was a super hit and dubbed in Hindi as ‘Dharam Yudh’.

Plot: Rajini’s parents are killed by Thengai Srinivasan. He is adopted and brought up by a rich man. After many years Rajini finds out that Thengai Srinivasan has been stealing body parts, especially eyes. How Rajini takes revenge on him forms the crux of the story.

Paayum Puli (1983)  is a Tamil action film directed by S. P. Muthuraman and starring Rajinikanth and Radha. The movie was a blockbuster and dubbed in Hindi as ‘Fauladi Mukka’.

Plot: When a smuggler kills his sister, a naive, immature man vows to deliver justice for her death and joins a martial arts school. He trains hard there to become a master fighter, honing his fighting skills. Taking on a new identity, Paayum Puli, he sets off for revenge, but the affection of a beautiful woman soon puts a hitch in his plans.

18. ‘Kabali’ dubbed in Hindi as ‘Kabali’   

Kabali (2016) is an Indian Tamil-language gangster-drama film written and directed by Pa. Ranjith. The film stars Rajinikanth, Radhika Apte, Dhansika, Dinesh Ravi, Kalaiyarasan, and John Vijay also star in pivotal roles. The film was a hit and dubbed in Hindi under the same title ‘Kabali’.

Plot: Before Indian Independence, many Tamils from South India were sent to Malaysia as indentured laborers. Kabali, the protagonist, fights this oppression. After a lengthy imprisonment, he is more determined than ever to fight for his people.

19. ‘Kochadaiiyaan’ dubbed in Hindi as ‘Kochadaiiyaan’

Kochadaiiyaan (2014) is an Indian Tamil epic musical historical fiction film directed by Soundarya R. Ashwin’s. It is India’s first photorealistic motion capture film, in which Rajinikanth, Deepika Padukone, and Shobana performed the leads, whilst Aadhi and Jackie Shroff performed supporting characters.  The film emerged as a commercial success and dubbed in Hindi with same name ‘Kochadaiiyaan’.

20. ‘Adutha Varisu’ dubbed in Hindi as ‘Chor Ke Ghar Chorni’

Adutha Varisu (1983) is an Indian Tamil drama film directed by S. P. Muthuraman, starring Rajinikanth, Sridevi, Silk Smitha. The movie didn’t work well at the box-office and dubbed into Hindi as ‘Chor Ke Ghar Chorni’.

Plot: Sri Devi is born into a rich royal family. One day, her uncle kills her parents but she escapes but falls from a bridge into a river. After 25 years Sri Devi’s grandmother is in search of her granddaughter because she wants to give all her money before she dies and keep the royal family going. The uncle gets Rajni to find a girl like Sri Devi to inherit.

Polladhavan (1980) is a Tamil drama film directed by Muktha V. Srinivasan which stars Rajinikanth, Lakshmi, and Sripriya in the lead roles. The movie was super hit and dubbed in Hindi as ‘Dushmano Ka Dushman’.

Plot: A young girl is a sole witness to the murder of a man who had tried to molest her. She soon comes face to face with the murderer and tries to report him. But he threatens her with dire consequences.
